Trend Alert: It's a Movement

Looking for a little movement in your wardrobe? We tackle the trend for new season shapes and forms with everything from volume to ruffles and maxi dresses. With inspiration from the runways we are sure to have you looking fantastic this season…

Volume
Inspiration: Jaeger London
Before you start accusing me of being a Harem pant sympathiser (of which there is some truth in that, I’ll admit), there are other ways to get a little summer volume. My favourite are the deconstructed tulip shapes that both have a lot more “tulip/bell shape” and less tailoring than seasons before.

1: Tie Bottom Genie pant $70.00 from Dotti
2: White Suede Our Tomorrow pants $259.00 from Blanco Boutique
3: Black and Ivory Print skirt $189.00 from Veronica Maine

Ruffles, ribbons, swish
Inspiration: Temperley
Add a length of ribbon, a soft fabric tie or a little ruffle and watch the wind pick it up. You don’t need a lot of deconstructed, expensive fashion forme to make the trend work. Just a little extra fabric will do the job!

1: Carnaby top $169.99 from Moochi
2: Racing Ruffle cami $60.00 from Dotti
3: Fringe clutch $39.90 from Portmans

Maxi moment
Inspiration: Dianne Von Furtsenberg
I love a long length to create a real sense of drama; the way a maxi dress swishes as you walk is pretty and so summery! Choose a bouncy heavy fabric for a lot of drape, or one in a softer more chiffon fabric for some goddess like movement.

1: Glam Maxi dress $89.95 from Just Jeans
2: Water Lilly Halter maxi $110.00 from Just Jeans
3: Alexandra Owen Full Length dress from Alexandra Owen

Float away fabric
Inspiration: Joanna Mastroianni
Soft chiffons and floaty tulle are perfect for any summer occasion. My favourite way to wear these fabrics is with a tunic or great top.

1: Tears for Fears Assym dress $359.00 from Just Jeans
2: Floral kaftan $65.00 from Stitch Ministry
3: Tammy Halter Frilled dress $59.95 from Glassons
