Style
Would you care to dance?

I’m a big Kate Sylvester fan so I was super excited to find out her Autumn/Winter 09 lookbook has just been released...

Kate didn’t show at this year's Fashion Week due to other commitments, so this is our first look at her upcoming collection entitled ‘Black Swan’. The collection is inspired by ballet dancers, black swans and black roses and is as rich and beautiful as you would expect her collection to be given those influences. The colour palette ranges from deep blue, rich burgundy and black to soft greys, baby pinks and ivory. My favourites are the fitted leotard like grey dresses, pretty oversized pink cardie and of course the tutu inspired dress. The collection is super elegant but very wearable and inspiring enough to have us all channelling our inner ballerinas come next autumn.

Hooray for Huffer!

Love Huffer? I profile their new store that will let you get your own piece of Huffer no matter where you live...

Want to buy hot new Huffer and have it delivered to you door? Now you can as the clever guys at Huffer have just opened their first online store at www.hufferstore.com. It showcases their new pieces and some cool old school Casio watches.  At the moment the stock available online is somewhat limited as the store is brand new, but they have big plans for its future. My picks of what’s available would be the Zig tee $75, DNA tee $89 and Stripe Bubble skirt $139. They also have some hot guys tees and shorts for those of you thinking about Christmas presents for your boy.

Oh so hot right now!

Want some celeb style? Why not make like Rihanna in these super hot Sportsgirl gladiator sandals....

I’m sure you have seen pictures of Rihanna wearing her funky black and white boots as she has been photographed everywhere in them the past couple of months. Now Sportsgirl have just released a flat version in line with the current gladiator trend. The originals are from Balenciaga and retailed for over $US3000, but you can get the Sportsgirl version named ‘Force’ for just $AU84.95 from www.sportsgirl.com.au. They are available in black and white like Rihanna’s and also a stunning bronze version

Happy (almost) Birthday Barbie!

I vividly remember spending many hours dressing my Barbies in the bright and flashy 80s outfits of the time, making clothes for them from my mum’s sewing box and cutting their hair (very badly I should add - sorry Barbie!).  Now Barbie is getting the ultimate fashion makeover! As part of her 50th birthday celebrations she will have her own show at New York Fashion Week in February 2009 and 50 fashion designers have been enlisted to create life size outfits inspired by Barbie to be modelled in the show.

The designers are yet to be announced but I’m sure the selection will be diverse and amazing. The mind boggles at the possibilities of that one – out there Vivienne Westwood Barbie, sexy and uber stylish Gucci Barbie, ladylike and super pretty Chloe Barbie, geek chic Marc Jacobs Barbie and so on… Barbie is also going to collaborate with acclaimed bridal designer Vera Wang (now that will be the ultimate Bridal Barbie) on another design project and produce a capsule collection with New York designer Jeremy Scott as well next year. With such exciting projects on the horizon I’m sure Barbie’s 50th year will be her best one yet!

She has played a huge part in many little girls’ childhoods, and for many of us was our first exposure to fashion...

Truly Beautiful Skincare

Trilogy is probably a name you have heard before in relation to skincare and beauty products...

It is a New Zealand based company that makes gorgeous natural products using organic rosehip oil. I’ve just recently tried a few of their products as I’ve been looking for a more natural alternative to my current skincare routine, and I have to say I am impressed so far. I tried the cream cleanser, gentle facial exfoliant and vital moisturising cream and I found the products really light, gentle and they smell divine. My skin felt refreshed and so soft after using them, and I like the fact that I’m putting something plant based and chemical free on my skin – that has to be a good thing! Their products are available in most pharmacies, health food stores and at Farmers.  A great way to try their products for yourself is to buy a ‘fresh start’ kit which contains one 10ml tube of each of the products Plus the pack starts at just $19.50 - great value for beautiful skin. Check out www.trilogyproducts.com for their full range and list of stockists.

Want a piece of Nicole Ritchie?

TV star and fashionista Nicole Ritchie has just released her debut jewellery line called ‘House of Harlow 1960’.

It's named after her adorable baby daughter (with Joel Madden) and her love of the sixties.  The collection has been exclusively released at Kitson, a trendy boutique on Melrose Ave in L.A., it is also available online at www.shopkitson.com.

Nicole's pieces, which feature fabric, leather, silk, rivets, feathers and gold-plated metals range in price from US$12 for an ‘antique’ ring to US$125 for a leather cuff. Her collection is quite simple with a vintage feel. The standout piece for me is the stylish leather cuff and the bangles with leather detail are cool too. But if you want a piece of her current collection you will have to be quick as apparently it’s already selling like hot cakes with huge pre-orders.  It’ll be interesting to see what she brings out next, rumour has it she has a maternity clothing line in the works!

Get Cybele, Zambesi and Jaeha delivered to your door!

I am a self-confessed online shopping addict and have a deep love of New Zealand fashion.  So you can imagine how excited I was when I recently discovered this brilliant kiwi fashion website www.generalcucumber.com...

General Cucumber stocks a fantastic range of New Zealand designer clothing from labels such as NomD, Salasai, Cybele, Jaeha, Lonely Hearts and even Zambesi!  The best thing is they sell not only the current season's stock, but pieces from several seasons back as well. So if you missed out on something you really loved in a previous season, you might still be able to get it and at a reduced price too (bonus!), as most of their older stock is on sale.

I am coveting the stunning Cybele Cloud Triangle Dress $279 (middle), Zambesi MGM Dress $371.60 (left) and Jaeha Dramatic Dress (right) $325.40.
