Top 5 Ways to Get into Nature this Summer

Winter is almost a thing of the past! This means it’s finally time to get out and about, and soak up all the goodness that nature has to offer - outdoors! We’ve come up with our top five ways to get in to nature this summer; think fun, thrills and spills…

1: Camping
Grab your besties and head off on a roadie. Whether it’s up north or down south, camping gives you a chance to take in some of our beautiful country’s amazing scenery and get back to basics. Sleep under the stars, chill at the beach and loll in the sun – ah bliss! Leave the hustle and bustle of daily life behind and get involved with nature! If the thought of being bitten by pesky mozzies puts you off, make sure to take a bottle of AVEENO Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion to help soothe and calm any irritations.

2: Hiking
Hiking is a fantastic way to take in some breath taking views, have fun and get fit! All around the country are some amazing hiking trails; whether you’re after a little bit of a walk or a hard core hike. Visit www.doc.govt.nz to find some fantastic trails near you, there are literally hundreds around the country. Best of all hiking, makes for some fab photo opportunities and fills your lungs with gorgeous, fresh air.

3: Abseiling
If you’ve got a thirst for adventure, abseiling could be just the activity for you! It’s a great work out and great if you love thrill seeking, it's amazing fun! If hanging over precarious cliffs and delving into mysterious caves sounds like you, you’ve got to give it a go!

4: Ocean Swimming
Swimming is one of those super exercises which works nearly every muscle in your body! Get out and into the gorgeous blue ocean, and lap it with a bit of ocean swimming. Make a challenge out of it by entering into the New Zealand Ocean Series, with five events around the country, there’s bound to be one near you. Either enter yourself or do it with a few friends, you can try to go either 750m or 2.8km depending on what you feel up to! Remember that swimming can be dehydrating, so always apply a rich and luxe moisturiser filled with natural goodness, such as the AVEENO Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion afterwards.

5: Snorkeling
When was the last time you went snorkeling? It may seem a little bit random, but it’s a great way to check out all the gorgeous fishies and amazing marine life that are normally hidden from sight. All you need is a fantastic location (we love Goat Island, in the North Island) and some goggles and a snorkel (flippers are optional). Not only can you soak up the gorgeous weather, but you’ll also be squeezing in a bit of exercise while you’re chasing those fish around!
