Sometimes, no matter how many times you tell yourself you should be eating an apple, all you want is something sugary.
It’s ok to have a sweet treat occasionally, so here are some smarter ways to get your fix without going overboard...
Mini Chocolate Treats
Chocolate is high in fat and sugar so portion control is necessary to avoid an overload! A Whittaker's Sante bar is the perfect size for getting your chocolate fix without the temptation of having just one more piece! Cadbury Singles bars are also a great size and contain only 99 calories per bar.
Trim Hot Chocolate
Hot chocolate is a perfect morning or afternoon snack for something that is sweet, but also nutritious. A hot chocolate made with trim milk is a good source of calcium, protein and low in fat so you don’t have to feel guilty about adding a couple marshmallows on top!
Dried Fruit
A small handful of dried apple, apricots, mango and papaya is a nice way to satisfy your sweet tooth. Dried fruit is higher in sugar than fresh fruit as all the water is removed, however, it still provides valuable nutrients as well as fibre. Remember, because the fruit is dehydrated, two dried apricots is like eating one apricot. You probably wouldn’t eat more than four apricots in a sitting, so you shouldn’t have more than eight dried apricots for a snack. Eat along with a big glass of water to help keep you full.
FruJu Tropical Snow
It’s still summer which means ice-cream season. FruJu's have always been a great tasting iceblock, and a Fruju Tropical Snow is even better. It has a bit more of an icecreamy texture than the traditional FruJu, but is 99% fat free and not loaded with calories.
