What We Love About Our Bodies

We celebrated Love Your Body Day by sharing our favourite body parts. An easy article to pull together, you might think?

Sadly no, you would not believe how much everyone moaned about it! We all know the theory about loving our bodies and accepting ourselves as we are, but putting the concept into practice and stating on paper what you love about yourself? It’s actually a hard task!

It’s so easy to focus on what you perceive are your flaws that you miss all the gorgeous parts that make you great. I think the girls I work with are all stunning so this assignment shouldn’t have been that hard - it just goes to show how much we all need to stop paying lip service to the idea of accepting ourselves and actually put it into practice.

So my challenge to you today is to head to our forums (Click here) and proudly declare what you love about your body… and as gorgeous as your eyes may be, they don’t count!

Anya: My curvy hips
I love a part of my body most women seem to have a problem with, but I’m totally pleased with my big rounded hips and my small waist and wouldn’t trade them for anything! I have a very 50s hourglass shape and even though it means it’s hard to find clothes sometimes, I still think it’s cool.

Amber: My cheeks
I couldn’t believe how hard it was to come up with a part of my body that I love. It goes to show how ingrained it is to not like our bodies, to strive to be a size 8, and to look like what the media tell us is gorgeous. I figured it out in the end though. What I love about my body is my cheeks (the ones on my face!). I have really prominent cheeks, and although the funniest thing is trying really hard to find sunglasses that sit over them, I love the way they make my face look happy and bubbly all the time.

Liselle: My breasts
They’re not huge but I’m happy with the dish I got dealt. With the number of women getting boob jobs on the increase, Love Your Body Day is a great time to be loud and proud about your jugs. The risks and complications associated with breast enlargement are horrendous with the United States Food and Drug Administration identifying 27 alone - and that’s just the ones we know about. If you want them fake, then you’re a flake.

Sarah: My nose
Yip, I love my nose (hehe). It’s small, and it doesn’t get in the way. When I have watched the odd plastic surgery program in the past, I see all these women getting nose jobs, and I quietly smile and feel good that I don’t have to worry about that part of me. It’s also great because I can’t put weight on there and don’t have to go searching through stores for clothing that will fit it! It holds up my glasses perfectly too. I love my nose, and it loves me.

Eve: My legs
I have to say, I’m pretty happy with the way my legs turned out. They’re reasonably long, I somehow manage not to put weight on to my thighs, (it all goes to my stomach, which is whole other story!) and because I’m blessed with olive skin, they don’t get too pasty in the winter time!

Gemma: My stomach
While my pear shaped body drives me nuts when I’m trying to find pants, shorts and skirts that flatter my lower half, it does mean I have a nicely shaped waist and I don’t tend to put weight on my stomach. At the moment it’s still feeling the effects of winter, but given a few weeks of exercise it should be looking bikini ready.
