Challenges for March

In this month’s challenges we give you some tips to help make the world a better place…

TAME
  • Take a lunch break every day this month. If your idea of lunch is a chewing through half a sandwich at your desk, then make the time to head out – whether you go for a walk, look around the shops or just read a couple of chapters of your book in a park it’s a great way to recharge your batteries for the afternoon ahead.

  • Make the most of the last few weeks of daylight savings before the clocks go back on Sunday March 18. The weather’s still great so organise plenty of BBQs and picnics at the beach while you can. If you think daylight savings hours should be extended, click here to download the petition in favour of this.

    INTERMEDIATE
  • Make an out-of-the-blue visit to a friend you haven’t seen for a while. We were all impressed when a friend of one of the girls in the office turned up with a sweet bunch of flowers and a picnic and took her out for lunch. Such a small gesture is a great way to remind a friend how important they are to you.

  • Look at the amount of rubbish you throw out each week. I have friends who have their non-recyclable waste down to one supermarket bag a week! Since I heard that I’ve been making a more conscious effort to recycle and think about ways I can cut down on rubbish, especially after I worked out my partner and I go through about 14 takeaway coffee cups a week.

    CHALLENGING
  • If you don’t have cash to donate to charity, instead think about how you can use some of your spare time. Organisations like Refugee Resettlement are always looking for volunteers to help quota migrants settle here. Find out more about becoming involved here.

  • Our theme for the month is Wellington, so why not mark a visit to our capital city in your diary? Find the time to spend a long weekend exploring all this great destination has to offer. If you already live there, make like a tourist for a few days and check out all those sites you never normally bother with.
