So you’ve stumbled across nzgirl, but what exactly is it, you may be asking?
Since 1999 nzgirl has enjoyed its position as New Zealand’s premier online magazine. We’re the place you come to for everything you might be (or might not be!) getting from a typical print magazine (and so much more) but we’re completely online and totally free.
To get the most out of your nzgirl experience make sure you sign up for the site. This allows you to log into our forums and enter all our great competitions. It also means you can choose to receive email updates from us, which tell you about cool new things on the site and also give you the exclusive on great deals and offers from the brands and companies we deal with. Our target audience is girls in their 20s, but we still have plenty of younger and older visitors...however, we do state that due to the nature of some of our content the site is not suitable for under-16s.
To get the full nzgirl experience you can also shop in our online store at www.nzgirl.co.nz/shop. We stock clothing, cosmetics, underwear and jewellery, all carefully selected with nzgirl's in mind. FREE shipping in New Zealand AND no hassle returns, full money back if you change your mind on an item when you get it home.

Jenene Freer, CEO Jenene’s role is pretty varied, as CEO she’s responsible for keeping the company going and growing. Favourite nzgirl section: I love the Hot 5 and hang out for Fridays on the site! Favourite nzgirl store item: Oh so easy! The Diamond Eye Lovebird's necklace from the NZ Mint / Boh Runga Range. Ultimate indulgence: Time off! It’s amazing how much you cherish the little things when you’re really rushed off your feet with your day to day job. I look forward to being able to get time to have my hair cut or even go for a wax!! Strange, but true… Favourite holiday spot: My new favourite spot is my parents' place in the Hawke’s Bay. They’ve just bought a great place with all the trimmings that come with years of hard work. Go ma and pa! Thing you can't live without: My darling husband Ken and our lovely pets - Max and Cheeba. Oh and pinot noir! Best thing about being an nzgirl: I have the freedom to be who ever and what ever I want to be. We have this amazing country that is a springboard to the world. How cool is that? My goal for this year: Become the largest media channel for women in NZ!! Email: jenene.freer@nzgirl.co.nz
Bonnie Frankland, Commercial Director Bonnie has landed herself the job of sniffing out all the best brands, products and offers that an nzgirl could want. She then puts together ideas around how those brands can advertise on nzgirl. Thanks to those advertisers the site is free to access for all nzgirls. So she helps advertisers tap into the incredible purchasing power nzgirl readers represent. Let’s face it, us girls LOVE to shop. So many products, so little time! Favourite nzgirl section: The new Interior Design section in lifestyle. I am in the throws of DIY at my new place so it's totally where my head is at. The How to Make a Bed Head article is the PERFECT inspiration for trying something a little different. I'll let you know how mine turns out. Favourite nzgirl item: Has to be the multi-dress! I got out of the taxi at the end of the night just recently and a lovely (but slightly tiddly) man offered me a hand out of the car. He actually said 'WOW! You look like you are going to the Oscars or something'. Ultimate indulgence: Getting my nails done. Manicure (french) and pedicure (80s coral colours!). I just love sitting there getting pampered and then enjoying the benefits of my sexy nails for the rest of the week. Favourite holiday spot: Quarteira Beach, Algarve, Portugal. It represents my ultimate holiday. We stayed in a little chalet on the local campground, set just back from the beach. The water is an amazing shade of blue. The sand is fine, white and goes on forever around an endless and varied coast line. There is a shack on the sand that sells pints of beer from 11am. Thing you can't live without: My boyfriend, sunshine and Marmite. I have only been foolish enough to try to go without the later two and it's just not fun. Best thing about being an nzgirl: I walk into the office every day with a smile on my face. That's the most important aspect to any job for me. My goal for this year: To go for as many swims in the sea as possible! I have been living in London for the past five years and not a day went by when I didn't miss my beach! Plus I want to run 'Round the Bays' (DONE.. but I only walked it... next year I'll run..promise) and complete one 'Ocean Swim' event (DONE!... King of the Bays, 750M swim in 19mins 33sec - YAY!). Next mission... the South Auckland Duathlon - stay tuned. Email: bonnie.frankland@nzgirl.co.nz
Tee Twyford, Editor-in-Chief Tee is responsible for overseeing the look and feel of the content of the Flossie Media Group sites. Favourite nzgirl section: They’re all great! I am a long term fan of the Hot 5 and Staff Buys though. Favourite nzgirl item: Update, I'm so lusting afer the Gabriel Cardigan Dress - le sigh. I wish I had Anya on hand to dress me every morning! Ultimate indulgence: There are many things that make me happy. Catching a movie all by myself in the comforts of the Lido cinema with a hot chocolate and chocolate icecream. Pampering opportunities definitely rate up there. A weekend away somewhere nice. Favourite holiday spot: A close tie between Hahei and Melbourne, both are places I escape to whenever I can (time and bank balance dependant). Thing you can't live without: The people around me who make me who I am. My contact lenses. A creative outlet. Laughter! Best thing about being an nzgirl: The strong female heritage that allows me to be who I want, do what I aspire to do and say what I feel. Make the most of it girls! That and all of the gorgeous beaches! My goal for this year: Be a kickass editor, spend quality time with my family and friends, develop financial nous and have fun. 2008 is my year (and yours!) Look out! Email: tee.twyford@nzgirl.co.nz Ramarea Pedersen, Editor Ramarea's in charge of living and breathing the nzgirl brand which means working with our fabulous editorial team and contributing writers to come up with articles you want to read. It’s not all hard work though! She gets to go to lots of fun events and her desk is always overflowing with new books, CDs, beauty products and food that she gets sent to try. Favourite nzgirl section: Cocktail Corner. Not just because I get to try some seriously yummy drinks, but also because I get to be nosey and ask the bartenders how I can make the cocktails for myself at home! Favourite nzgirl item: Silver Kiwi Pendant and Chain. I love my kiwi necklace and wear it all the time! Ultimate indulgence: Spending time with all my fav people who don’t live in Auckland. Favourite holiday spot: Pretty much anywhere that I can just switch off and go into holiday mode! Lots of sun and a great beach is also a must. Thing you can't live without: Obviously my family and friends, but I’d also struggle without my eyelash curler and cell phone! Best thing about being an nzgirl: Knowing that we can do whatever we want. My goal for this year: To learn as much as I possibly can while working here at nzgirl and to get into some serious saving habits! Email: ramarea.pedersen@nzgirl.co.nz
Anya Merryfield, Fashion & Beauty Manager Anya is the Fashion and Beauty editor for nzgirl and the manager of the online retail side of the business. She splits her time between helping nzgirls suss out their style situation through her fabulous articles and helping them to build fantastic wardrobes through our online store. Favourite nzgirl section: Apart from the Style section? I really like the Health & Fitness articles. Sure I may not spend a lot of time following the guidelines, but it's something to aspire to. Favourite nzgirl item: I love the Flox pieces, beautifully made and super comfortable. Ultimate indulgence: A really good (and I mean really good) hot chocolate from Scopa in Wellington. It’s like a bit of creamy heaven in a cup. Mmmmm. Favourite holiday spot: Wellington, my home town filled with my fav bars (Mighty Mighty and Matterhorn), my fav gig (Atomic) my favourite tattoo covered knitting fanatic friends and the best gelato in the country hands down. You can’t beat Wellington on a good day. Thing you can't live without: My Laptop (named Moxie). She puts up with my bad moods, helps me talk to my folks in another country and stores all my precious photos. If I could compress a friend into a small plastic container full of wires then it would be my lappy! Best thing about being an nzgirl: So many things I can’t possibly pick one. My goal for this year: To get myself out there, have some fun, grow as a person and be happy! Email: anya.merryfield@nzgirl.co.nz
Sarah Gauntlett, Art Director Sarah is the Art Director for nzgirl, she takes care of anything from the overall site design and layout, article images, advertising, posters, solus email design and building, photography, tee designs and general coding and IT problem solving... The list goes on! Favourite nzgirl section: Lifestyle... just love Liselle’s music reviews. Favourite nzgirl item: I love my horse tee, I wear it all the time! Ultimate indulgence: Good music, good food, good company... and a good sleep in. Favourite holiday spot: I know this sounds silly... but it’s Katikati. I grew up there and love going back every now and then and chilling out in the countryside away from the buzz of Auckland city! I am so sure the grass IS greener over there. Thing you can't live without: My husband, my family and my mascara! Best thing about being an nzgirl: The freedom, and safety of living in such a beautiful country. My goal for this year: I would like to do really well at my job this year, up-skill so that I am a super-design-machine and find more time to pursue my painting and photography interests. Vicky Morgan, Account Manager Vicky’s responsibilities include Ad Campaign Management, including ad bookings, site trafficking and reporting, invoicing, enquiries, working with Amber to create proposals to meet client briefs, and working with the editorial team to work out how we can best integrate an advertisers brand into nzgirl. Favourite nzgirl section: Style Favourite nzgirl item: Well I think that has to be my black original nzgirl logo tee. Ultimate indulgence: Sleeping in on a rainy day with nothing to do and nothing to spoil the mood! Favourite holiday spot: Anywhere outside of Auckland really. Give me a beach, some cocktails, some money to spend, and some friends and family to hang out with and I’m sold! Thing you can't live without: My sanity! It’s really the one thing you ideally have control over – for most of your life anyway! Best thing about being an nzgirl: Our beautiful surroundings and the opportunity to escape for the weekend to a beach, a bach, or hotel and feel like you’re on holiday. My goal for this year: To save for the things I want, to further my career, and to experience all that I can, including learning to snowboard and wakeboard! Email: vicky.morgan@nzgirl.co.nz
Nadia Keane, Account Executive
Nadia’s responsibilities include collating reports, working with Bonnie to create proposals to meet client briefs, sending out all your fabulous prizes and generally helping out wherever she can. Favourite nzgirl section:
That is tough…. But if I had to pick just three they would be the Best Buy, Test Kitchen and Cocktail Corner. These just happen to be three of my most favourite things in life - clothes, food and alcohol! Favourite nzgirl item: The Silk Ribbon Wrap in Silk Love. It’s a super flattering top and when you’re wearing it, you can be guaranteed somebody will give you a compliment! It’s also very versatile, looks great teamed with jeans or over my second favourite, the Baroque dress. Ultimate indulgence: Easy, a good sleep in and having nothing to do! Sadly however, I am still studying and there is always that assignment or those readings I should be doing. But, it just makes it all the more enjoyable when I can do whatever I please. Favourite holiday spot: A close tie between lots and lots of places in New Zealand (from my family batch in Pauanui, to skiing the slopes in Queenstown) and Beachcomber in Fiji. Along with 13 of my girlfriends, I was lucky enough to inhabit the small island mid way through last year. It was indescribably awesome!!! All we did was sunbathe, island hop and eat during the day, and then drink and dance all through the night. I can’t wait to go back to that special little place. Thing you can't live without: Undoubtedly my friends and family - I wouldn’t survive without them. My range of winter pyjamas. Ka-razy people and laughter!!! Best thing about being an nzgirl: Endless opportunities and our beautiful country (people included). Sometimes I stop and pinch myself as it is easy to forget how lucky we really are. Also, that we are on the other side of the world from many crazy, dangerous countries. My goal for this year: Finish my studies and graduate, whoop whoop! Excel in my new job and learn all I possibly can from the talented girls around me. But, most of all keep having fun and travelling, 2007 was an amazing year and I’m sure 2008 will be too. Email: nadia.keane@nzgirl.co.nz
Melissa Hyde, Advertising Executive Melissa puts together ideas on a daily basis – working out the best ways for brands to advertise their products or services on nzgirl. She’s fielding requests from the entire ad sales team to come up with ways to introduce you, the reader, to something that might change your life (a new career in the Police), or simply make your hair look a little glossier (ghd). Always on the look out for new brands for us to talk to, Melissa is the creative glue in the Ad sales team. Favourite nzgirl section: The entire Style section, oh and the gossip! Favourite nzgirl item: I love the Diamond Eyed Lovebird Necklace and the Gabriel Cardigan Dress…they are both super cute - I can’t decide which one is my fav! Ultimate indulgence: I would have to say, sitting on the couch with a cheese platter, glass of merlot, watching the E! channel and getting a foot rub by my boy (thanks Dane)! Favourite Holiday Spot: Aloha Hawaii! Beautiful beaches, amazing cocktails, delicious ice-cream, great shopping…need I say more? Things you can’t live without: My gorgeous family, my boyfriend and friends, and Starbucks Chai Lattes (I am addicted)! Best thing about being an nzgirl: NZ is recognized in the world (other than Lord of the Rings, Flight of the Concords and the All Blacks) as a place with beautiful surroundings, gorgeous beaches, loyal people and safe communities – sounds like a pretty nice place to call home! My goal for this year: My goal for this year was to learn to budget and save my money, rather than spend it loosely on impulse buys….so far not so good! But, there are still six months left - I have time! Email: melissa.hyde@nzgirl.co.nz Emma Punter, Advertising Manager Emma is the main point of contact for existing and new nzgirl clients, hunts out new business and puts together campaign concepts and ideas on how best to get all the brands out there. Favourite nzgirl section: nzgirl Style! Favourite nzgirl item: Too many to list but I really like the Diamond Eyed Lovebird Necklace – sooo cute! Ultimate indulgence: Splashing out on a spontaneous holiday overseas to somewhere exotic which is entirely unplanned, un-researched and all about just going for the fun of the unexpected (a new surf or snowboard wouldn’t go amiss either)! Favourite holiday spot: Coromandel, but I love travelling overseas so anywhere tropical. I recently went on a surf trip to the Maldives and loved it there – so many sparkling beaches, so many random and hilarious stores – so little time! Things you can't live without: Definitely my surfboard – it’s amazing how attached you can get to a piece of fibreglass. It’s an extension of my body and it usually has a permanent residency in my car so I can bolt to the beach whenever I need to – operative word being “need” as good waves never hang around for long and missing a good swell is like missing out on a half price sale on every single shop on Ponsonby road… Also my straightening irons -my hair is a curly mess without them. Best thing about being an nzgirl: Being safe, having freedom of choice and living amongst some of the most beautiful landscape and beaches in the world. Need I say more? Also, we don’t have that many big beastie sharks around, and being a surfer girl that’s rather important! I value my limbs and would rather they stay attached. My goal for this year: I have so many goals with nzgirl – watch this space! I have to learn to cook because at this stage ‘toast’ is my specialty and it’s getting ridiculous! I also need to find the time to learn more than just the bass line of the song 'Stand By Me' on the guitar. Email: emma.punter@nzgirl.co.nz
