Make Working Out Fun

Let’s face it, most gyms have terrible music. If it isn’t some techno rehash of an 80s pop hit, they’ve programmed a radio station which has the same four ads playing over and over again.

It’s not exactly what I would call inspiring.

With a fit summer body in mind and my ears begging for mercy, I decided to invest in an mp3 player.

While I first thought about an ipod Nano, when I saw the Sony Walkman, I knew I had met my match.

What's so great about this little piece of technical wizardry, I hear you ask? Let me give you a run down

Shaped like a test tube, it sits in your hand and takes less than a twitch of your thumb to change tracks. It also comes with an armband to put the player in when you exercise, which is easy to adjust volume and change tracks from.

The calorie counter
This little machine will count the amount of steps you have done, your mileage and how many calories you have burnt. It’s a great feeling seeing how many pieces of cake you have burned up as they flash across the screen!

Sports mode
This is where it starts to get really flash. Basically you can set targets whether they are calorie, distance or time related and certain songs will play until you reach that target. You can also use the stop watch function to keep a record of how long it took you to cover your distance.

G Sensor
The G Sensor automatically recognises the pace you are going, e.g. slow contemplative walk versus I am going to kill my boyfriend run, and adjusts the play list to suit your pace. All you need to do is select which songs you would like in your running and walking play list and it does the rest for you. Too easy!

FM radio
No matter how comprehensive your music collection, every now and then it’s nice to listen to the radio. So if you grow tired of your play lists, you can pre set your favourite stations and catch up on the news while you are out for your morning stroll.

Stable ear plugs
The earplugs that come with the player are small, secure and wrap around the back of your ear ensuring you won’t spend half your workout trying to secure them.
Other cool features
Water resistant
18 hour battery life
1G memory

If you’re looking for a bit of motivation to get your running underway, then this walkman is definitely it!
