The year has been officially kicked off and February is a great time to start making things happen!
TAME
Get active in the evening every night this week. Sure it’s tempting to come home from work and flop in front of the TV, but make it your mission to pound the pavement, head to the beach or check out your local pool for a post-work swim.
Do something sweet for a friend who’s feeling down. Your best mate may have just broken up with her boyfriend and be feeling a little low with all the emphasis on loved up couples this month. Sending her some flowers or give her a pic of the two of you having fun... just to remind her that the world hasn’t ended!
INTERMEDIATE
Do something out of the ordinary every weekend for the next month. It’s easy to get stuck in the rut of doing the same thing with the same people week after week, so make it your mission to do something different. Whether it’s visiting an attraction, going to a gig, making the most of a free event or just exploring a different part of your city/town it’s always good to expand your horizons.
Give your wardrobe an extreme makeover. Devote a day to a ruthless cull of your clothes, then arrange what’s left into an easy to use system and play around with different options. We’ve heard of people taking pics of themselves in different outfits to make figuring out what to wear easier in the mornings, or you could just note down some new takes on your old favourites. You’ll be stoked when you realise that mini dress you haven’t worn for ages actually makes a great tunic when teamed with your new jeans and belted at the waist!
CHALLENGING
Take a hike. Sure, a stroll along the beach is nice, but nothing compares to the achievement of a full-on tramp. If the last time you did that was at school then make it your mission to try a local trail. Build up your experience with a few day tramps before moving onto an overnight track. Make sure you know your stuff when it comes to gear, conditions and survival if anything goes wrong. Check out www.tramper.co.nz for information.
Always dreamt of being a movie star or a big shot director? You’ve got to start somewhere so why not get your friends together and make a short film. Prepare a script, borrow a handy cam and have some fun. Even if you end up making a totally terrible movie, chances are you’ll have a heap of fun doing it and you’ll always have the tape to look back on and laugh at!
