It's the perfect time to start planning for summer and Xmas madness. You'll be so pleased you did!
Tame:
• Read that book you’ve had squirreled away for a rainy day! Reading’s a great way to relax and become lost in another world, and isn’t as mind numbing as watching the idiot box. Remember that the books are usually better than the movie adaptations so don’t limit yourself!
• Plan your Xmas shopping list….now. There is nothing worse than December rolling around only to discover you have no money left for Xmas presents. If you are short on money this is exactly the right time to think up your cheap and thoughtful gifts. They may take extra time and attention, but your wallet and the receiver will be truly grateful!
Intermediate:
• Join the gym if you haven’t already! It’s the best way to stay motivated as you’re paying money to get fit and if you’re not going, then your money’s just going straight down the drain. If you have a gym membership already, think about taking some extra classes. Yoga and Pilates are great for flexibility, strength, and mental clarity and the benefits stretch to all areas of your life – even the bedroom! The whole getting healthy bit not quite motivating enough? Just think of the hot personal trainers or gym-goers you’ll get to meet. That got your running shoes on? I thought so!
• Make your own Christmas cards. Sure there are a seemingly never-ending variety of cards in the stores but why give something generic and mass-produced? Take a few hours over the weekend to get crafty and you’ll be able to send out your own personal works of art. Added bonus? There’s something childlike and innocent about getting up to your elbows in glitter, cardboard and glue. Let your imagination run wild!
Challenging:
• Open a savings account that you can’t touch. The January sales are just around the corner and there’s always amazing bargains so why not get prepared now by opening up a special account that you can’t access via the ATM. If you’re dedicated and put aside $20 a week, you’ll have enough to grab a killer frock or pair of shoes. If girly stuff isn’t your thing, try saving for the latest must-have gadget. Going without a takeaway coffee or two now could see you snap up something amazing in the New Year!
• While it doesn’t sound particularly challenging, making small changes in your diet can be extremely tough if you don’t go about it the right way. The worst thing you can do is leave thoughts of healthy eating to a week before you need to get into a bikini and crash diet your way through summer. That will only lead to increased weight gain later on and you feeling worse about your body. Check out our Shape Up For Summer article and stay tuned for weekly advancements so you can tone up the healthy way.
• Join a social sports team. Now is about the time of year that summer competitions kick off, so grab your buddies and workmates and make a team. You can get sponsorship from local bars and clubs and it’s a great way to get in shape if the thought of a treadmill bores you to pieces. It also serves as a good way to meet new people and you never know…it could lead to a hot summer romance!
