Beauty Detox

With our theme this month being the great nzgirl Detox it only made sense to attack the makeup laden drawers in your bathroom. After all does everyone need nine different lipsticks and a cleanser for every particular type of skin? We tell you how to rid your beauty cabinet overload whilst making sure you have the products you need to look fantastic!

Think what’s in your handbag
When I cull my makeup it always starts with the same question – what’s in your handbag right now? For most it’s a case of the usual suspects, eyeliner and mascara, powder and lipgloss, and maybe an eyeshadow trio. Often enough these prized possessions won’t leave the confines of your handbag, and it’s for good reason. These products are your essentials and should be the first port of call when putting together your “to keep” pile.

Some of our favourite basics…

1:
Laura Mercier $34.00 from Adore Beauty
2: Mirenesse Super Power Wet Dry Powder $79.00 from Adore
3: Almay Ideal Lip colour $13.99 from Makeup Direct

Learn to Multi Use
A multi use product can be a life saver when it comes to the world of makeup. One item that can work for lips, cheeks and eyes? Where do I sign up! The best thing about these products is the fact that they downsize your makeup bag instantly!

Some of our favourite multi use products...
1: M.A.C Cream Colour base from M.A.C
2: Mosaic powder $45.00 from Napoleon Perdis
3: Bloom Cheek tint $24.00 from Adore Beauty

Learn to keep it simple
If you have young skin you probably don’t need a primer, and you don’t need a three colour eye makeup selection for everyday. Keep your look basic with great do it all products like hydrating powder, every occasion eye colours and bronzers that can be used for many applications no matter the time of year.

Some of our favourite simple products...

1: Smashbox Halo Hydrating powder AU$75.00 from Smashbox stockists
2: The Brush Stroke Eye Powder pencil $64.00 from Mecca Cosmetica
3: Thin Lizzy 6 in 1 Professional powder $49.95 from Radius Pharmacy
