Last Sunday kicked off Mental Health Awareness Week (October 6 – 10) with a night of fun, snow and hip hop at Snow Planet in Albany. The event was held to help raise awareness for youth depression and theLowdown.co.nz, a fantastic online site created to help young New Zealanders understand, deal with and recover from depression.

A Snow Planet virgin, I was excited to head along for snow boarding lessons (sooo much fun!) and got to check out hip hop boys PNC, David Dallas and DJ Mouli. TheLowDown is a great site, and with one in seven young New Zelanders expected to experience serious depression over the next 12 months, it’s definitely a cause to get behind!
