This month the nzgirl team has been indulging in some serious retail therapy! We've picked up hot swimsuits, tailor made dresses and gorgeous bags... Melissa, Advertising Executive: Olivia Dress by Sera Lilly RRP: $427I was on the hunt to find something a little different to wear to the upcoming NZ Music Awards…and as all girls know when you have a purchase in mind you never, ever find it! That was until, I stepped into the gorgeous Sera Lilly store in Ponsonby, and the stunning Olivia Dress caught my attention! I fell in love but much to my disappointment the dress didn’t fit! The girls then offered to make one for me (in less than two weeks)! How could I say no? A fab dress and top customer service, I recommend everyone visit Sera Lilly sometime soon and check out her collection of amazing summer dresses to suit all occasions.
Isla, Flossie Content Producer: Carlie shoes by Sachi RRP: $189 I needed something fun to buy (and I’m not quite ready to start my summer clothes rush) so these Sachi, Carlie shoes from Overland were the perfect filler purchase. They’re gorgeous and perfect with winter work wear or summer dresses, yay! Anya, Style and Beauty Manager: Marilyn Halter Swimsuit from Ginger Lover RRP: $155 Summer is almost here, and it just so happens that my new summer pad comes complete with a sun drenched courtyard, balcony and very large pool. So despite my lacklustre bank balance, it was imperative I get a new summer swimsuit, something that covered all the bits that I don’t love and flaunts all the bits I do. This Marilyn Halter suit is a little bit of perfection and made by a fantastic New Zealand brand. I love the deep cut and so very flattering detailing, I can’t wait to get out and use it! RRP: $20 Anya is a big advocate of Fashion WeekEND’S Designer Garage Sale; loads of wicked NZ designer pieces at cutthroat prices. I’d never been, so was super excited about heading down, and sure enough I found my own bargain buy - these high waisted denim shorts from Stitch Ministry! Although it wasn’t love at first sight (high waisted stuff usually looks gross on me!) I tried them on and was sold. I love that they’re high waisted, but I can still get away with wearing them as normal shorts (without tucking my shirt in), and the best bit? They were only $20! RRP: $50 Recently I received a voucher for Iko Iko – one of my favourite stores. I found this beautiful book, All Wrapped Up! Groovy Gift Wrap of the 1960s by Kevin Akers. It is full of reproductions of well, wrapping paper! Popular imagery of cute animals, adorable children, barbecue iconography for dad, funky florals, and Santas of every stripe grace these pages. It’s quite a random book but lends well to design inspiration. I like anything to do with the 60s and 70s, and a lot of my designs end up reflecting these times, so it's a huge reference for me. B onnie, Commercial Director: Bellbird Ring Tone from Tones of Home RRP: $3.50 My phone rings all the time and the shrill traditional ‘bring bring’ REALLY gets to me. I often have my phone on silent simply because I can’t stand the sound of it. I am sure I must have some sort of repressed childhood memory that involves the phone... However, I’m in sales so I need to find a solution. A friend in Wellington solved the problem for me. She has the sound of Tui’s, a ‘birdsong’ if you will. It is so soft, calming and unique that I had to have it! Click here for a listen! Nadia, Campaign Executive: Metallic Floral Tote in Stone from Neelear NomadRRP: $169 This was my sweet purchase for the month and I didn’t even pay for it – whoop whoop! You know how boys struggle with gift buying sometimes… Well my man was nice enough to lend me his credit card so I could indulge in a bit of online shopping. So, this is my present from him to me for my graduation - well done me! I love the neutral tones, feminine design and pattern, and know I will get a lot of use out of it because it goes with everything! I highly recommend this kind of purchasing technique! Emma, Advertising Manager: Ticket to Black Seeds at the Powerstation RRP: $35The best $35 I’ve spent in a long time! As usual, The Black Seeds lived up to all my expectations and put on a fantastic sell-out show, both Friday and Saturday night. I’ve never been let down by a Black Seeds concert, and this one was definitely no exception. They played a combination of their old tunes and their new tunes, which are even better! I can’t wait to see them again…
