Going through a problem patch with your skin? Or just after some at home pamper time? Anya shares some of her favourite face mask recipes for any skin complaint... I have… Dry Skin We diagnose: The Milk Mask Why it works: Milk is famed for its hydrating properties, as well as lactic acid which helps soothe and even the skin. This paired with aloe vera gel or jojoba oil helps not only to remove already dry, flakey skin but also hydrates and moisturises the skin that is underneath. You will need: 1 tablespoon of powdered milk, 1 tablespoon of honey and 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel or jojoba oil. Mix all the ingredients together in a small bowl and apply to clean, just dried skin avoiding the eye area. Leave to sit for 5 – 10 minutes then remove with warm water rinsing the skin thoroughly. Your skin should feel smoother to the touch already! Finish the treatment by massaging your favourite moisturiser on your skin. I have… Acne Prone SkinWe diagnose: The Papaya Face Mask Why it works: Papaya is rich in an enzyme, funnily enough, called Papayin, which amongst other things dissolves oil within the skin and removes dead skin cells. Non abrasive, the enzyme works to cleanse and tone the skin as a whole. You will need: 1 tablespoon of papaya pulp and and a little manuka honey. To make the pulp just peel and deseed your papaya, cut into cubes and then drop the pieces in to a food processer. Mix the pulp with the honey and apply to clean, just dried skin avoiding the eye area. Leave on your skin for between 10 – 15 minutes and then wash off thoroughly following with a light moisturiser. I have… Combination Skin We diagnose: The Rose Face Mask Why it works: The yoghurt in the face mask soothes and hydrates, whilst the manuka honey zaps away bad bacteria in your t zone. Lastly the rose smells fantastic as well as balancing skin tone. You will need: 1 tablespoon of natural yoghurt at room temp, 1 tablespoon of manuka honey, 2 tablespoons of rose water. If the manuka honey is hard briefly warm in the microwave, wait till cool then mix with yoghurt and mix in the rose water. Apply to clean, just dried skin avoiding the eye area and let sit for between 10 – 15 minutes. Remove with a warm wash cloth and follow up with some mild cream cleanser and some moisturiser. I have… Tired Skin We Diagnose: The Cooling Citrus Mask Why it works: Not only is the orange and lemon a great uplifting scent, it’s also rich in Vitamin C which is very refreshing to the skin as well as being rich in AHA, while the cucumber pulp revives tired skin with its refreshing zesty and hydrating feeling! You will need: 2 tablespoons of cucumber pulp, 1 tablespoon of orange and lemon pulp and some oatmeal to bind. Make the cucumber and citrus pulp by peeling the fruits and dicing before putting them in to a food processor. Mix the pulp and the oatmeal to make a paste and then apply to clean, just dried skin and leave for 10 – 15 minutes. Rinse skin thoroughly, and follow with your favourite moisturiser. Anya Merryfield
