I can’t wait to see: The Phoenix Foundation.
I was introduced to The Phoenix Foundation by a friend of mine and haven’t looked back since! With a mixture of psychedelic and techy tunes – they’re the perfect band for both rocking out and also chilling in the sunshine the day after a big night out. There’s something for everyone with The Phoenix Foundation, and you’ll always find something new in their tracks every time you listen to them! Bring on Rhythm and Vines.

I can’t wait to see: Shihad
I have seen these guys about 10 times and they blow me away every time. They were one of the first bands I ever saw, back in the day at the PowerStation – five bands, $5 bucks. Oh those were the days (circa 1995). The last time I saw them was over five years ago at the Town hall when they played with Weta and Fur Patrol. It was amazing. Possibly the best concert I have ever been to. It has been too long since I saw them last and I can’t wait.

I can’t wait to see: Kora
Though I have seen this team of brothers plus one a few times now, I am yet to get sick of them. I swear they have super powers, as every time they manage to put everyone in a super good mood and get the crowd amping! If you were at Home Grown you will know exactly what I am talking about. If you haven’t seen them before then this is must do (e.g. something you should do before you die). And if you have seen then before I am sure you are already a believer.

I can’t wait to see: Cut Off Your Hands
This Auckland act headed up by front man Nick Johnston is possibly my favourite band at the moment (much to the annoyance of my long suffering partner who hears them on repeat over and over again). Apparently I’m not the only one, with the bands infectious pop/indie/new wave sound making a big impact overseas. Luckily we get them all to ourselves for New Year’s and you better believe I’ll be front and center singing along to Oh Girl in a possibly tragic fan girl fashion!

I can’t wait to see: The Kooks
I love, love, love the Kooks. Naïve is possibly one of my most fav songs of all time! I’m stoked that these UK boys are coming over for New Year’s. Gizzy is definitely going to be the place to be!
