Find Bliss with Your Man

Luxurious beauty treatments are the perfect pick-me-up during winter, but while we might be ready to indulge let us not forget our significant other-halves. An increasing number of males are breaking their masculine stereotypes and are embracing beauty treatments – so why not book a mid-winter treat for two?!

“In an average week we get around six male clients” says Andrea Williams, beauty therapist for Shannon’s Electrolysis and Beauty in Wellington. This young woman’s beautified face exudes self-confidence as if men and beauty treatments have always come hand in hand.

There’s no doubt you know at least one male who follows a simplistic hygiene routine of hopping in the shower, shaving and (hopefully!) brushing his teeth. This is not to say all men function this way but the personal maintenance process taken by men isn’t known for its complexity!

However, the practicality of getting a beauty treatment is becoming an increasing reason for why men are now visiting a beauty therapist. “A lot of guys get waxing if they need it for sport,” says Miss Williams.

If your partner’s a sports buff and you are yet to convince him of the benefits of beauty treatments, it couldn’t do any harm to give him a little reminder that they could enhance his beloved sport. In no time he’ll be up for a massage or facial (feel-good treatments used for de-stressing and relaxation).

Most beauty therapists’ customise these for men, so be sure to ask what’s on offer. “A lot of guys love facials - some have facials every six weeks!” says Miss Williams.

If your beau is a virgin to beauty treatments and is nervous or indecisive about whether to partake, book a package for two and join him! Most beauty therapists can accommodate for partners and it can be a real bonding experience.

The atmosphere created through aromas, music, and welcoming beauty therapists, delivers a seamlessly executed explosion to the senses, which has the potential to charm even the toughest of men. Book for two and reap the benefits of a relaxed, de-stressed and even a slightly more confident and buffed partner – what’s not to love?
