Welcome to 2009! Whether you're back at work or still on holiday we've got loads of goodies to help keep you feeling the summer love! Click here for a taste of what we've got...
In this week's Hot Five we showcase the best new must-have beauty buy (that you'd wonder why they'd never made before), a delicious new drop of vino from popular kiwi winemaker Allan Scott and the best ways to spend your evenings and weekends when it's cold and miserable outside!
Tweezeme - The Lighted Tweezer Eyebrow plucking must be the bane of our lives as nzgirls. If you can't arrange for a professional to lend a hand to taming your brows then you'll know that trying to get the right pair of tweezers and the right lighting to see all those protruding hairs can be a nightmare. Then I discovered the Tweezeme lighted tweezer! With the touch of a button, the Tweezeme shines a bright LED spotlight onto the direction of your brows (or wherever you're choosing to tweeze) allowing you to get pinpoint precision and a well-groomed arch using the slanted stainless steel tips! They come in a sassy pink carry case, complete with magnifying mirror. Click here for more!
Allan Scott 2008 Sauvignon Blanc After one of our interns commented on our high rate of chocolate consumption at nzgirl HQ, we decided that this week we would attempt a chocolate free zone. No one said anything about alcohol though - the Allan Scott Savignon Blanc that appeared on my desk recently went down an absolute treat (minus Bonnie, who's an alcohol free zone right now!). If you're getting technical, you'd want to know about the pineapple, passionfruit and zesty citrus flavours that combine with the typical herbaceous notes. If you just like a good glass of wine, we'd recommend you put a bottle of this in the fridge for the weekend! Pick it up from the supermarket or your local wine store like Glengarrys for $20.99. Burying Brian In the absence of Grey's (we were addicted y'know), we've been watching the screens to see what will arise in its place to fill our weeknights on the couch! Ramarea is a big cheerleader for new kiwi show Burying Brian. She says, "packed full of drama, laughs and ex Shorty St stars, it’s my new Wednesday night delight. If you haven’t caught up with the show yet it revolves around Jodie whose life is turned upside down after she loudly and very drunkenly declares in a bar that she wishes her husband, Brian, would drop dead – and then returns home to find that her wish has been granted! Eesh!". Check it out Wednesday nights, 8.30pm on TV One!
Buzz! Quiz TV on Playstation 3 If none of the new chick-flick styled shows are floating your boat, then perhaps you'd be more into the new Buzz! Quiz TV game on Playstation 3? This week I got a lesson in how cool Playstation 3 really is (it's only taken me a year to realise!) and I'm super impressed! I also love how Buzz! has had a makeover so now you can do so much more with the new Quiz TV game! There are a range of different themed quizzes to choose from (or you can even write your own at MyBuzz), if there's no one home to play with you can use the wireless connectivity of the PS3 to play sofa to sofa with other gamers around the world and thanks to the wireless controllers, you can have up to eight players battling it out in the lounge without any cord tangles!
Dilmah Masala Chai I used to look on in envy when old-school nzgirl, Sadhana would bring in her homemade cups of Chai (Hindi for tea) - they smelt amazing! So I was stoked to discover Dilmah's new spicy blend of Chai tea that serves as the pefect mid-afternoon pick-me-up and perfect for those cold nights when you don't want a glass of vino! Each luxury leaf tea bag contains Ceylon and a blend of spices including caramom, peppermint, ginger and lemongrass to give each mug that trademark spicy Chai kick - you can actually feel the warmth of the spices on the back of your throat! We originally sampled the blend as a black tea, then got a little creative and added in a dash of warm milk and some honey! Delish, pick up a pack today from the supermarket!
