We all know that straightening your hair and getting out the blow dryer will give you a great hair look.
But in order to give your hair the best chance at rehab you need to put away the hot tools for a little while and let the hair have a breather. But how do you get luxurious locks without a styling tool?
You need to find a style that requires none of that stretching and moulding to keep it looking fab! We asked our hair guru Nigel to give us the low down on the best hairstyles to keep you looking glam without the straightners!
The Sea Spray Curl
Inspiration: Kate Hudson, Charleze Theron, Cameron Diaz
All you need is a gentle scrunch dry! Make it quick by scrunching your hair whilst drying it with low speed diffuser attachment on your hairdryer, or use a curl boost or salt spray product and let it dry naturally. You can add more definition with a curl defining product, or pin up for a boho up do.
You really want to let the hair dry as naturally as possible, but in cool weather a gentle blow dry with a protective leave-in conditioner is a good option. Once dry, section out your hair, I recommend working with the top half of your hair first. Take a part from ear to ear along the back of the head and twist it up to the crown of your head and pin into a bun. Take the long sides and wrap them up adding them to the bun, until all the hair is incorporated. You want as much height as possible on the top of the head, and if you can, a sweeping fringe across the front of the face – it’s the most flattering.
If you want it even simpler create a low slung loose ponytail and then twist the hair up and secure bobby pins. The result is an up do with a lot of volume. This little trick is a very easy way to disguise a bad hair day.
The Cheats’ Bob
Inspiration: Bic Runga, Anna Wintour, Katie Holmes
If you have short layers around the face and either a straight or sweeping fringe, you can create a sleek bob look quite easily. For longer hair simply tie the hair back and focus on those short cropped front layers. For those that have short hair all round, no need to iron the whole head of hair. Simply smooth out the hair gently near the front of the face with a smoothing serum and a gentle blow-dry.
So it's up to you now - all you have to do is put down the straightners and re-build your hair with only the finest luxury!
