This week Tee and the nzgirl team are loving a great many things.
Namely, the hot new CD from Estelle, the movie Hunting and Gathering (a feast of french sub-titled feel-goodness), a delicious morning tea treat and a great way to enjoy the treats without guilt - by doing some good in the process... Comvita Winter Wellness Range
Want to know how to beat the flu this winter? The mix of overheated offices, cold temperatures outside, lack of sleep and an array of winter ailments puts us all at risk of running down and getting sick - no thanks! When I discovered the range of Comvita Winter Wellness products I was more than happy - Anya swears by these! Most of the range includes UMF Manuka honey and/or Propolis - both nature's wonder ingredients for bolstering your immune system to prevent and fight winter nasties. The range includes: Comvita Cof-Ex Dry or Chesty Elixirs, Comvita Fortacold Herbal Elixr, Comvita Echinacea High Strength Liquid Extract, Comvita Throat Lozenges, Comvita Oral Spray and Comvita Immune Support Campsules - and they're kiwi made! Estelle - Shine! It’s official, we heart Estelle! Shine is the second album for this UK songstress, who has finally cracked the international market. No doubt you’ve already heard her mega hit ‘American Boy’, and now it’s time to check the rest of what this talented, R & B crooner/hip hopper/rapper has to offer. There’s something for every mood – whether you want something fast paced to kick off a night out, try ‘Wait a Minute (Just a Touch)’, or a fun, boppy sing-a-long, ‘No Substitute Love’, or a sexy, night in with your boy,‘You Are’. This is one CD that won’t disappoint, and Estelle is one sassy lady to keep your eye on!
Hunting and Gathering
It was with much delight that I accepted the invitation to see Hunting and Gathering with my boyfriend's mum, Helen. Hot Chocolates in hand, we settled in for two hours of blissful viewing. I originally fell in love with the book by the same name which fell into my lap as a Christmas present and I devoured it over summer. A heartwarming story of how four oddly matched people (including cutie Audrey Tatou) manage to find each other (and themselves) and ultimately love! More about the nuance - Hunting and Gathering is rich in storyline and doesn’t over dramatise what plays out. After the emotional rollercoaster that was the fabulous SATC, this is the perfect antidote. Highly recommended! New Zealand's Biggest Morning Tea
From now until next Friday, invite your girlfriends around to your house for a bakeoff, or your workmates over to your desk, and do your bit to join in New Zealand’s Biggest Morning Tea! Kiwi not-for-profit Preventing Violence in the Home is encouraging nzgirls to host a morning tea (yours can be small, but collectively the effort will be big!), with profits from each of the gatherings going towards funding a national helpline for victims of domestic violence. On average in New Zealand 14 women, 10 children and six men are killed by a member of their own family every year, but with more funding and support, we can help prevent many of these tragedies. Head to the website for more information or to register your morning tea or bake off… Bakers Delight Blueberry and White Chocolate Scones
If you're looking for something to take along to a morning tea like the above, and your homemade scones looks more like a plate of small, windowless buildings then it’s time to rejoice! We’ve discovered the most delicious scones – and they’re available at a Bakers Delight near you! ‘Nana approved’, we at nzgirl HQ love the new Berry and White Choc scones, packed full of real blueberries (great for your memory!) and sweetened with white choc chips, perfect for the sweet tooth and you don’t even need to stop for jam and cream! We also love the Oat and Honey flavour with a yummy crunch topping– just like a delicious bowl of porridge and brown sugar!
